I've stayed at numerous hotels and homes in my stay here so far. Verdict: people here love their ultra firm beds. Bad news for side-sleepers like me.

Gotta agree with you there. The month I stayed in Beijing I swear I woke up with bruises on the first few mornings.
Strangely enough, the hotel in Xian was far more luxurious, with very soft mattresses and amazingly soft linens.
